The expanding Department currently has 42 academic and clinical faculty members. The Department is dedicated to clinical care, education, and research that meets the primary care needs of a diverse urban population, serving over 100,000 patients annually. Many Department physicians practice at Mile Square Health Center, a federally qualified health center that serves an inner city population at five sites. The Department runs the UIC student health service, serving over 30,000 students, maintaining a clinical presence across both East and West campuses, as well as throughout the city. The Faculty and Residents provide broad spectrum care in the academic medical center, including maternity care and two Family Medicine inpatient services, admitting all ages.
