The Department of Family & Community seeks dynamic and innovative individuals to join a diverse and dedicated faculty as Assistant Professor/Medical Director AND Assistant/Associate Professor-Family Physicians on the Non-Tenure Clinical Track.

Assistant Professor/Medical Director

Job Summary

Provides leadership and supervision to physicians and medical staff who provide medical care at the Community Health Centers.  Acts as a role model and leads in an interdisciplinary, collaborative team approach to ensure delivery of high quality, safe care.  Creates a culture of excellence in clinical care, education, research, evidenced-based practices, and continuous performance improvement.

Minimum Qualifications

Candidates are required to be an M.D. or D.O., ABFM certified, qualify for a Texas Medical License, minimum two years of direct patient care and a minimum of one year in an academic health center environment; possess significant management, clinical and educational experience; committed to caring and providing health care to an urban underserved population in a dynamic and challenging environment as the Medical Director for the Harris Health System’s Community Health Program.

Specific Duties

Interviewing and recruiting faculty for the clinic, maintaining adequate physician staffing at the clinical site, performing yearly reviews of faculty goals & accomplishments, providing direct clinical care to patients, teaching of Family Medicine medical students and residency training in the clinic location, and conducting research.
