University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine Huntsville Regional Medical Campus is seeking a full-time, non-tenure earning, Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine. Qualified applicants must hold MD degree or equivalent, be board certified in Family Medicine, and licensed in Alabama; qualify for medical staff privileges at Huntsville Hospital and credentialing as a physician provider. Requires experience of at least 2 years in an academic setting with clinical practice.
Duties: Review patient history and current issues to make a diagnosis and plan of care for patients at the Family Medicine Center. Supervise family medicine residents as they see patients. Assist them in deciding on appropriate diagnosis and plan of care for residents' patients. Serve as associate residency program director to mentor residents, develop didactic presentations, and ensure residents successfully complete the 3 year training program. Train and evaluate medical students in family medicine. Serve on academic and clinical committees. Present clinical vignettes and clinical research for publication or presentation. Perform other scholarly activities. When required, provide diagnosis and plan of care for patients at the Madison County Jail or at a nursing home. These duties may be performed as supervising physician for a family medicine resident in diagnosing and implementing a plan of care.
