Cejka Executive Search has been selected to recruit a progressive physician leader for the Chair, Department of Family and Community Medicine, SUNY Downstate.
The Chair of Family and Community Medicine for SUNY Downstate will be responsible for administrative operations of the academic Department consisting of 23 attendings providing care at two locations and public school-based health centers, the medical student program, and the residency program. The department Chair will advance clinical programs, recruit and develop faculty members, establish multidisciplinary clinical programs and expand the Department’s research enterprise focused on studying the outcomes of health interventions in the community. This leadership role presents a unique opportunity to help develop innovative strategies in population health for SUNY Downstate’s patient base. Additionally, as SUNY Downstate is the academic partner for One Brooklyn Health System, the Department Chair will serve as a though leader in developing a new model for community health practices to improve the health status and wellness for the population of Brooklyn, while lowering the cost of care delivered.
Successful candidates should hold the academic rank of Associate Professor or above and will have demonstrated clinical leadership experience for advancing outcomes in quality, performance management, growth and academic initiatives. Candidates must have a record of effective administrative and fiscal leadership in advancing an ambulatory care network and family and community health programs that support population health activities. Active Board certification in Family Medicine is required.
