Family Medicine Physician Faculty Researcher with a focus on Population Health


The Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at Oakland University William Beaumont (OUWB) School of Medicine and the Beaumont Health Family Medicine Residency in Troy, Michigan are seeking a full-time Physician Faculty Researcher with a focus on Population Health.

The faculty member’s primary function will be to build population health research in the department as an independent investigator.  Additionally, the faculty member will teach students and residents, provide patient care and foster a supportive, academic environment.

Successful candidates will have the following qualities:

  1. Population health research expertise as demonstrated by presentations, publications and extramural support.
  2. Board Certified or Eligible (ABFM and/or AOA) in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine or Medicine and Pediatrics.
  3. Have credentials supporting appointment as Assistant Professor or higher rank in OUWB.
  4. Enthusiasm for teaching.  Experience teaching residents and medical students is desired but not required.
  5. Outstanding clinical skills.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Job responsibilities would include 50% dedicated time for population health research.  Additional responsibilities include office patient care, medical student teaching, resident teaching and precepting.  Inpatient rounding skills are desirable, but not required.   The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work collaboratively while maintaining a commitment to excellence.

This faculty member will work closely with the OUWB Founding Director of Population Health Informatics, the Director of Informatics and Biostatistics, the Director of Research Data Management and Computing and a growing team of investigators to develop a nationally-recognized research program in population and community health.

The Beaumont Health Family Medicine Residency Program, Troy is one of the top Family Medicine residencies in Michigan.  It is an unopposed, dually-accredited program with a long history of training excellent family physicians.  The Family Medicine Center provides full-scope, integrated care for a diverse patient population, with over 40,000 visits annually.  The residency is a major teaching site for the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine.  To learn more about the Family Medicine Residency Program, visit:
