You will serve as a Physician (Family Practice) in the Naval Ambulatory Care Center of NAVAL HOSPITAL. You will be responsible for independent delivery of appropriate quality medical diagnosis and treatment to active duty military, dependent, retired, and civilian personnel. Selectee will serve as preceptor and consultant to midlevel providers and participate as a medical representative on boards, committees and other activities.
- Evaluate, diagnose and provide medical treatment.
- Refer patients with medical conditions requiring inpatient care to local civilian hospitals and other specialist.
- Identify emergent medical conditions and provide emergency care to stabilize patents.
- Provide professional clinical direction and training to registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and other medical assistants.
- Supervise the above listed health care providers during specific physician-led clinical procedures.

- Doctorate of Medicine, Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada that is accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education; Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association, or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time my degree was obtained. (Note - A Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a foreign medical school must provide education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States. Evidence of equivalency to accredited schools in the United States is demonstrated by permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate for Americans who completed premedical education in the United States and graduate education in a foreign country, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination. AND
- Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States. AND
- Have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, i.e., a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training. (Note - graduate training programs include only those internship, residency, and fellowship programs that are approved by accrediting bodies recognized within the United States or Canada).
In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of 1 experience at or equivalent to the GP-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: examining and diagnosing patients of all ages to include pediatric and geriatric; developing and managing treatment plans; determining the need for consultation with other specialists; prescribing and dispensing medications; evaluating the quality of care provided to patients and identifying opportunities to improve care.
Applicants must also be able to satisfy clinical privileges requirements which, in addition to the above, includes the following:
- Completion of a residency program in the specialty approved by the American specialty board or AOA, board certification, or board eligible.
- Current clinical competence (e.g., privileged to independently practice as a Family Practice Physician within the past 2 years, actively practiced within the past 2 years by having encountered a sufficient number of clinical cases to represent a broad spectrum of the privileges required).
- No health status contraindications to granting clinical privileges.
- Board certification is desired but not required.
