Family Medicine Faculty
The Hawaii Island Family Medicine Residency is looking for an additional family medicine faculty member for the first residency on the Big Island of Hawaii. Located in subtropical Hilo, the residency’s second class graduated in June 2018. Join 3 other FM faculty and the PD in an interdisciplinary training program with behavioral health, pharmacy, and APRN faculty who teach and mentor learners from both Hilo based and Honolulu based training programs, including medical students from the John A. Burns School of Medicine on Oahu. We recently received full accreditation from the ACGME. Until now, we have been a 4-4-4 resident program, but this summer we started 6 interns and hope to continue to grow to be 6-6-6 program. To adequately prepare our graduates to practice in the rural "neighbor islands" of Hawaii, all candidates should practice full spectrum family medicine, including inpatient care of children and adults and some minor procedures. The ideal candidate must be board-certified in Family Medicine and ideally will have either teaching experience or faculty development fellowship training. Active OB experience with minimum of 150 vaginal deliveries and repair of twenty 2nd degree or greater perineal lacs.
