Department of Family Medicine
University of Nebraska Medical Center
UNMC seeks a forward-thinking educator as their next Chair for the Department of Family Medicine. This is an opportunity to lead one of the top-ranking departments in the country with one of the strongest residency programs in both rural and urban medicine. Made up of more than 100 faculty, resident physicians, and staff members, the Department is dedicated to training and educating tomorrow’s medical leaders. It strives to take advantage of new opportunities and evaluate existing programs in order to shape the educational opportunities and clinical services relevant for the training of the Family Physicians of the future. It remains committed to the mission of serving the State of Nebraska and the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s 500-mile campus. After nearly 30 years of leadership, the current Chair has announced his plans to step down, so a new generation can design the vision for the future of academic Family Medicine.
The Chair reports directly to Bradley Britigan, MD, Dean of the College of Medicine. Working collaboratively with the Dean and the CEO of Nebraska Medicine, James Linder, MD, the Chair will define the priorities for the department to meet the tripartite mission of education, research and clinical excellence.
The successful candidate will be an MD/DO (or equivalent degree) who is board certified in Family Medicine. S/he will demonstrate scholarship, research, clinical and service accomplishments that would merit the rank of Professor in the College of Medicine. S/he will have a record of successful experience in academic leadership and mentoring, outstanding clinical and teaching skills, a track record of successful and productive scholarly activity, and the demonstrated ability to create and build programs in a top ranking academic program.
The review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled. Nominations and applications, including an individual curriculum vita and a letter of interest, should be submitted in confidence to:
Trisha Chogich, Alexander Wollman & Stark
Individuals from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
