Research Faculty Position in Primary Care/ Family Medicine/ Population Health/ Health Services
The Department of Community and Family Medicine is seeking applicants for Assistant/ Associate /Full Professor positions with a primary emphasis on a broad range of research relevant to primary care, family medicine, occupational safety and health, health services, prevention and population health.
Successful candidates will have a history of relevant externally funded research, research program development, and research productivity. Preference will be given to clinician-scientists/clinician-researchers and to candidates with experience and a strong interest in interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an extramurally funded, independent research program, and work closely with research and clinical faculty members.
The Department of Community and Family Medicine was created to improve healthcare in the Carolinas and is a bridge between the Duke Health System and the communities it serves. Made up of a diverse range of divisions that span occupational medicine, family medicine, physician assistant, and community health, the Department encompasses the core disciplines required to tackle the difficult task of improving population health.
Opportunities for research collaboration include working closely with faculty members in the Department, School of Medicine and other Duke entities including Duke Nicholas School of the Environment, Duke Global Health Institute, the Duke Clinical Research Institute, the Duke School of Nursing. Suitable candidates may be considered for an additional appointment in the new Department of Population Health Sciences at Duke.
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should have an MD/DO with research training, or a doctoral level degree (PhD or ScD) in epidemiology, population health, health behavior, or a related field with a strong record of research including a focus on design, analysis and methodological development studies.
Strong organizational and communication skills are required. Ideal candidates should have a strong record of scholarship with experience as a principal investigator and collaborator on externally funded research.
