Family Medicine / Student Health Faculty

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking to hire energetic faculty to join our talented team. Our department is committed to continuous improvement in patient care, education, research, and service. We are actively searching for individuals who can contribute to our mission of high-quality patient care, excellence in education, and the progression of science through scholarship. This position will provide primary care to patients in the Family Medicine clinic and the Student Health clinic with a focus on sports medicine

Aside from direct patient care, faculty will have the opportunity to pursue academic interests such as the following:

  • Teach a variety of courses within the medical school curriculum
  • Educate learners within our 12-12-12 residency program and/or Family Medicine friendly fellowships (including our sports medicine fellowship that begins next year)
  • Conduct research within an institution that exceeded $500 million in grant funding in 2017, and includes potential collaborators such as Precision Medicine, the Center for Exercise Medicine,
  • Preventive Medicine, the Lakeshore Foundation, and others
  • Continue to develop our expertise in Value-Based Care, Leadership in Medicine, Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS), Digital Health & Analytics, and Lifestyle & Exercise Medicine

Consideration will be given to board-certified MD and/or DO for this full-time position. Position is a twelve-month, non-tenure earning faculty position. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor Rank: MD or DO, board-certified in Family Medicine; Alabama medical licensure; credentialing for hospital privileges and outpatient provider.

Required qualifications for Associate Professor Rank: Meet Assistant Professor qualifications above; service as Assistant Professor for at least 3 years at UAB or equivalent service elsewhere; demonstrate ability to make significant contributions in academic duties. Such contributions should be of high quality and nationally recognized. Show promise of continued professional growth.
