Associate Director Family Medicine Residency Program

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Department of Family and Community Medicine is seeking to hire an energetic leader to join our team as an Associate Residency Program Director to assist in development and oversight of an academic track in the expansion of our 12-12-12 family medicine residency. A strong history of academic achievement and a commitment to excellence in service and teaching are preferred.

Primary duties will include:

  • Collaboration with existing leaders in our urban underserved and rural tracks
  • Development, implementation, and oversight of an academic track for our residency program that develops leaders in education and research and promotes innovation in curricular design
  • Exploration of opportunities to institute integrated curricula between undergraduate medical education (UME) and graduate medical education (GME) and/or GME programs that utilize other professional degrees (MBA, MHA, MPH, etc.)
  • Supervision of faculty devoted to the training of residents within our program

Consideration will be given to board-certified MD or DO for this full-time position which is a twelve-month, non-tenure earning faculty position. Rank and salary are commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications for Assistant Professor Rank: MD or DO, board-certified in Family Medicine; Alabama medical licensure; credentialing for hospital privileges and outpatient provider.

Required qualifications for Associate Professor Rank: Meet Assistant Professor qualifications above; service as Assistant Professor for at least 3 years at UAB or equivalent service elsewhere; demonstrate ability to make significant contributions in academic duties. Such contributions should be of high quality and nationally recognized. Show promise of continued professional growth.
