Department of Family and Community Medicine

The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) in the College of Medicine at the University of Arizona invites applications and nominations for faculty at the levels of Assistant, Associate and Full Professor for the Department. DFCM is a research-intensive department with ongoing research in prevention and treatment of lifestyle-related conditions, e.g. obesity, diabetes and other related cardio-metabolic disease; tobacco and other substance abuse; and cancer. Other departmental established programmatic research areas include behavioral health, disabilities, and technology-mediated health interventions (e.g., eHealth, mHealth, HIT). These positions will be pivotal in fulfilling the Department's top priority to expand clinical health services research, building on a new UA College of Medicine academic partnership with Banner Health, the fourth largest non-profit healthcare system in the US.

Since 2003, the Department of Family and Community Medicine has been on the national list of top 20 Departments of Family Medicine in NIH funding. Competitive candidates will have an established research record reflective of one or more of DFCM's research priority areas: primary care research, clinical trials, applied research, healthcare system-based, clinical informatics-based or community-based approaches to reducing health disparities, especially with underserved and at-risk patients and communities. S/he will ensure that research activities are integrated and coordinated with clinical services, education, and community outreach to optimize the multiple synergies across the DFCM mission areas.

Experience with research fellowship training is also desirable. The Research Faculty are expected to mentor junior research faculty and remain engaged in an extramurally funded, personal program of research. The successful candidates will hold a PhD, MD or comparable doctoral degree.
