Seeking Fellowship Trained OB – Surgical Obstetrics

Seeking Fellowship Trained OB – Surgical Obstetrics
Los Angeles County, UCLA Affiliate
Family Medicine Residency Program

The Family Medicine Residency Program at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Pomona, California is seeking an OB fellowship trained physician to join our core faculty. This is a full-time appointment through Premier Family Medicine Associates, the medical group that administers the residency for Pomona Valley Hospital.

This opportunity is perfect for someone who wants to teach family medicine residents and practice surgical obstetrics, especially with an underserved population.  Our hospital has the second largest number of deliveries in the state of California.  It is a tertiary care center for OB with a large Neonatal ICU and 24 hour laborist for back-up coverage.  Presently, five family medicine faculty form our practicing OB teaching service, working closely with the residents.  Two family physicians with OB fellowship training are in the process of credentialing for surgical OB privileges.

In its 21st year, the residency program recently increased from a 6-6-6 to an 8-8-8 resident complement. With the full support of the sponsoring institution, the program is committed to academic excellence and is working toward designation as a Program of Excellence. We are looking for candidates with a commitment to resident education. Interested applicants should have a strong desire to provide excellent patient care, teach residents and medical students, create research opportunities, provide inpatient supervision, and manage relevant administrative
responsibilities. Time will be allotted for scheduled C-Sections and attending on Labor and Delivery.

The sponsoring institution is a 440 bed community academic center with strong support for continued growth including potentially an OB fellowship. Located 30 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, near the Claremont Colleges, at the base of the San Gabriel Mountains in Eastern Los Angeles County, the medical center serves a remarkably diverse ethnic community.  It is a Safety Net hospital providing care to the underserved and uninsured young and old, as well as the well insured.
